During each session, SBA Houston will present on the resources available through the U.S. Small Business Administration including information on counseling, capital, contracting, and crisis.
National Civics Bee®—a nationwide competition that empowers the next generation to step into their role as leaders in our democracy. Middle schoolers (grades 6-8) have until Feb. 3 at 11:59 p.m. HST to submit their applications. ‌Why it matters: Strong communities need informed citizens. The Governor's Office of Small Business Assistance and the Business Permit Office assist small and medium Texas businesses through entrepreneurial support, education and technical assistance. As part of these responsibilities, the newly updated 2026-2027 Texas Business Licenses & Permits Guide has been finalized to help new or existing business owners determine which state-level business licenses or permits are required to do business within the state. 
The FBISD Small Business Enterprise Program will host an in-person workshop for vendors and small businesses that are interested in doing business with the district. The workshop will begin at 2 p.m. at the James Reese Career and Technical Center (12300 University Blvd., Sugar Land 77479).

Commissioner Lesley Briones proudly dedicated the Pavilion at Arthur Storey Park and opened it to the public in October 2025. The legacy project, conceived in 2022 under Commissioner Jack Cagle, enriches the community’s public spaces. The handcrafted artisan pavilion features a solid wood roof shipped from Taiwan and offers residents a serene and meaningful place to gather and celebrate.
