Bellaire 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The City of Bellaire will mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a remembrance ceremony at the World Trade Center steel memorial outside the Bellaire Fire Department. The ceremony will honor the victims, survivors and first responders of the Sept. 11 attacks. Fire Chief Davis Farquhar, Mayor Gus Pappas and U.S. Rep. Lizzie Fletcher are scheduled to speak.

When: Friday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m.

City of Houston 9/11 25th Anniversary Remembrance

The City of Houston will hold a 25th anniversary remembrance ceremony at Lauren’s Garden in Market Square Park to honor the lives lost on Sept. 11 and the first responders who answered the call. The ceremony will also honor Lauren Catuzzi, a Houston native who was killed aboard United Airlines Flight 93. Lauren’s Garden serves as a permanent tribute to her life and legacy.

Fort Bend County 9/11 “Heroes of Honor” observance

Fort Bend County will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with a special “Heroes of Honor” observance at the Historic Courthouse in Richmond. The ceremony will include video tributes, patriotic songs and remarks honoring those who lost their lives, including those who died trying to save others. Retired U.S. Army Col. Robert L. Perryman Jr. will serve as the keynote speaker.

Houston Fire Department 9/11 remembrance

The Houston Fire Department will mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a departmentwide remembrance honoring the lives lost and the first responders who answered the call. At Fire Station 8, the HFD Honor Guard will toll ceremonial bells at 8:59 a.m. and 9:28 a.m., marking the collapses of the World Trade Center towers. The ceremony will also honor Houston firefighters who traveled to New York to serve at Ground Zero after the attacks.unite us.

Houston Meal Pack for 9/11 Day

More than 1,200 volunteers are expected to pack 367,500 meals at the Fertitta Center as part of the 9/11 National Day of Service. The meals will be donated to the Houston Food Bank for distribution across 18 Southeast Texas counties. The service project marks the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks by honoring the spirit of unity and service that followed.

Houston Rockets Day of Service and 9/11 Heroes Run

The Houston Rockets and Toyota will mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with their annual Day of Service honoring Houston first responders. Rockets players, coaches, executives and staff will visit Houston police and fire stations Friday to deliver gifts and tickets as a show of appreciation. The Rockets will also support the 9/11 Heroes Run Saturday, a public run and walk beginning at Houston City Hall that honors those who served and sacrificed.

Rice Chorale 9/11 memorial concert

Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music will mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with its annual “In Memoriam: 9/11/2001” performance. The Rice Chorale will perform Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, continuing a remembrance tradition that began in 2002. The concert will be conducted by Thomas Jaber and feature organist Katherine Jolliff.

Rice University 9/11 stair climb

The Houston Consortium of Naval ROTC will hold its annual 9/11 stair climb at Rice Stadium to honor the victims and first responders of the Sept. 11 attacks. Participants will climb the stadium stairs 28 times, roughly 2,200 steps, representing the climb to the top of the World Trade Center’s 110 stories. Naval ROTC students and members of the Rice community will take part, and the event is open to the community.

When: Friday, Sept. 11 from 7 to 8 a.m.

Sugar Land Space Cowboys 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

The Sugar Land Space Cowboys will host their third annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Constellation Field. Participants can climb 2,200 steps, the equivalent of 110 stories of the World Trade Center, to honor the first responders who died on 9/11. Moments of silence will be held at 8:46 a.m. and 9:03 a.m., marking when the two towers were struck. The event is free and open to first responders and the public.

When: Friday, Sept. 11. Gates open at 7:30 a.m., first responders begin at 8 a.m. and the public climb begins at 9:10 a.m.

University of St. Thomas 9/11 Ruck to Remember

The University of St. Thomas will mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with its annual Ruck to Remember, bringing together students, veterans, faculty, staff and community members for a two-lap march around campus. Participants can carry weighted rucks as a symbol of service and sacrifice. At 9:03 a.m., the community will pause for a moment of silence as the Chapel of St. Basil bells toll. Campus tributes will also include a field of American flags and a “Links of Honor” display representing the lives lost in the attacks.
